GOALS
• To promote the advancement and expansion of affordable homeownership programs to Native American member bands of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. • To provide mortgage financing for the purchase, construction and rehabilitation of single family homes. HISTORY The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe Finance Corporation was established in 1976 by The Minnesota Chippewa Tribe to develop a low interest revolving home loan program for low and moderate income American Indians in order to improve the quality of their living environment through the construction, purchase and renovation of housing. Initial funding for this unique program was provided by the State of Minnesota and continues through additional appropriations and revolving loan funds. Our first loan was closed with construction beginning in January 31, 1977. Now 30 years later the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe Finance Corporation has become a substantial lender with 735 mortgages worth $36,580,165. The Tribe accepts loan applications, determines eligibility, approves the package, prepares the loan closings, and services all their mortgages. |
